I have been trying different configurations of speaker cabinet designs for a while and have noticed something. Its just my opinion but it seems like mounting my 811B horns vertically greatly increases the channel separation. It makes sense because they are projecting the sound more up and down vs. left and right.

I cant say I ever saw any Altecs with the horn mounted vertically. Anyone know why they always mounted them horizontally or care to speculate as to why? The difference is rather dramatic in a smaller room.
